In the realm of lifting solutions, there has been a common perception that one needs to rely on traditional means such as jibs or cranes. However, let’s dismiss any notions of wild goose chases and introduce a pioneering lifting solution: the Sky Hook. As an innovative product, it stands very real, solid, and quite possibly, presents itself as the optimal lifting solution for a majority of lightweight lifting applications.

Contrary to its compact size and relatively lesser cost and capacity, the Sky Hook proves to be a formidable tool. It has the ability to effortlessly handle heavy loads which are commonly associated with hazardous lifting injuries, thereby setting new standards in safety measures. This humble tool makes light work of seemingly hefty tasks, proving that size isn’t always directly proportional to effectiveness.

Every workplace, whether it’s a bustling shop or a rugged job site, frequently encounters the issue of lifting materials, parts, and tooling that fall well outside the safe lifting capacity of an operator. Addressing this issue has seen the emergence of an entire industry, which, while providing multiple solutions, often overlooks niche requirements in material handling applications.

A primary area that seems to have been dismissed too quickly is the operator’s need to lift loads that surpass their personal lifting capacity. This often falls into a grey area, somewhere between what an individual can manage and the extreme capacity of a multi-ton overhead or jib crane. The Sky Hook elegantly fills this gap, enabling the operator to carry out tasks such as moving a 150 lb. tooling from a storage shelf onto a CNC mill table without risking an injury.

Traditional lifting tools like overhead and jib cranes pose their own set of challenges. Their high costs, complex installation requirements, and mandatory certified personnel for operation often make them less than ideal for many settings. The Sky Hook addresses these concerns while providing the required lifting capacity for most day-to-day operations.

For half a century, Syclone ATTCO Service has committed itself to the creation of an enhanced lifting product, one that fits snugly into the demanding landscape of the ergonomic material handling industry. Their initial product, launched in 1969, was the Sky Hook. In the heart of the manual machine shop industry, this tool quickly garnered attention, becoming an essential choice for lathe and mill operators requiring a safe method to handle heavy chucks and tooling.

This family-run enterprise has witnessed an evolutionary journey. Over the past decades, Syclone ATTCO has consistently adapted and refined its product based on customer feedback and emerging needs. This relentless pursuit of excellence has resulted in an all-inclusive, application-driven lifting solution that effectively bridges the gap between operator limitations and large industrial lifting equipment.

The Sky Hook distinguishes itself by offering a superior lifting solution. Its defining features are its mobility, compactness, light weight, and independence from an external power source. Despite costing a fraction of its larger counterparts, it is perfect for executing simple, single-operator lifts of awkward, hard-to-reach loads up to 500 lbs.

The Sky Hook’s design is a marvel in itself. From its sturdy base to its versatile boom, every aspect is specifically crafted to enable the precision handling of loads within a wide range of 50-500 lbs. Even the lightest model, weighing just 26 lbs., can be easily relocated across a work site while retaining the capacity to lift loads equivalent to four to five people.

However, don’t let the Sky Hook’s small stature deceive you. It is a tool of surprising versatility, capable of handling a wide variety of lifting tasks. Recognizing the varied needs of different settings, Syclone ATTCO Service has developed an array of models. These include devices that bolt to the floor, mount to a table, navigate narrow aisles, slide under equipment, or feature counterweighted bases to reach over and into machine cabinets. The company has adopted a customer-focused approach, demonstrating a commitment to provide unique solutions for each of their clients. They have the ability to design and build custom models based on specific requirements, ensuring that every customer receives a lifting solution perfectly tailored to their needs.

Standing at the height of an average person, the Sky Hook is designed to operate right where the user is. This thoughtful feature significantly mitigates the risk of dangerous and costly back injuries. The Sky Hook not only prevents lifting-related injuries but also becomes a valuable asset in saving time and money. Mark Spencer, a satisfied client from the Spencer Corporation, testifies to this, exclaiming how the Sky Hook has exceeded expectations and become an indispensable tool in their daily operations.

The Sky Hook product line offers a breadth of choices to meet various application requirements. It is available in both Chain and Cable models, and you can opt for either our Premium LoadLock clutch brake system or the simpler Economy Friction Brake. Each of these models offer specific advantages to the user. Premium Models boast upgraded casters and our unique LoadLock clutch brake for easy operation. Economy Models, on the other hand, feature a friction brake mechanism for secure load holding, offering a cost-effective yet reliable option.

Manufactured entirely in the USA, the Sky Hook is an embodiment of quality, safety-focused design and a long-standing history of success. Over the past 50 years, it has proven its worth across nearly every industry. As a family-owned and operated company, Syclone ATTCO Service maintains a close relationship with their customers, working with them to provide solutions tailored to their exact needs.

The Sky Hook is a testament to the fact that revolutionary solutions often come in simple packages. Its user-friendly design, coupled with the outstanding support and customization offered by Syclone ATTCO Service, makes it an unparalleled solution in the realm of lifting devices. If you are in search of a versatile, reliable, and cost-effective lifting solution, your search ends with the Sky Hook. Hamilton Caster, a leading manufacturer of heavy-duty industrial casters, wheels, and material handling solutions, is thrilled to introduce its latest innovation to enhance workplace safety —the Field Installable Toe Guard. Affectionately known as the Swiss Army knife of toe guards, this versatile solution not only enhances workplace safety by protecting feet from injury but also offers support for two brake styles—heavy-duty contact brakes and ergonomic brakes—and floor brushes, all of which are field-installable.

Heavy-duty contact brakes ensure steady support for larger loads, while ergonomic brakes minimize operator strain and fatigue. Optional floor brushes sweep away foreign objects and debris during operation, protecting casters from damage and keeping pathways clear. These features enhance operational efficiency and contribute to a safer work environment, making this an essential upgrade for safeguarding employees across various environments.

Hamilton CasterConstructed from robust 3/16” steel and finished in a sleek platinum gray, this toe guard ensures long-lasting durability and protection. With an industry-standard 1/2” clearance from the floor, the toe guard integrates seamlessly with existing casters, eliminating the need for drilling or modifications. Customers can opt to have the toe guard assembled onto a new caster or order it separately for easy installation on existing casters. This multi-purpose toe guard replaces Hamilton’s previous model, providing a more adaptable and customizable option available for wheel diameters 4” – 12”.

“Our field installable toe guard is designed to significantly enhance safety without the need for replacing entire caster assemblies,” said Mark Lippert, president of Hamilton Caster. “Its customizable features allow users to modify protection levels to specific needs, ensuring comprehensive safety in various operational settings.”

What truly distinguishes this toe guard is its versatility, offering a range of options to suit different safety needs. Key features include:

  • Enhanced Safety: Made from 3/16” steel and designed with a standard 1/2” floor clearance to prevent costly injuries and protect workers
  • Comprehensive Kit: Includes a replacement axle, 2 lock clips, and 4 nuts for a complete and hassle-free installation.

L&L Special Furnace has shipped a small model QTO1224 heated oil quench tank for quenching heat-treated tools used in the forging industry. The tools include various styles of equipment used in the forging industry. Tools such as nippers and ladles are very important parts of foundry and forging equipment. Forging is the heating of the steel to a malleable state or liquid and can be formed or poured into required shapes and tools. The tools are heat-treated in a furnace to required hardness and then quenched in oil to set hardness.

The quench tank holds 65 gallons of oil and is ideal for quenching parts from 50 to 75 pounds. The quench tank oil is agitated by an impeller with ½ HP explosion proof motor and is heated with a 4.5 kW immersion heater to maintain the oil at a slightly elevated temperature to help eliminate oil flashing and fire potential. There is also a safety lid with fusible links that closes automatically if the fusible links melt, dropping the lid and blocking exposure of the surface of the oil to air to prevent any potential fire.

The quench tank has a Eurotherm digital overtemperature protection. This shuts the heater off if the temperature is above a set level. The overtemp will not allow the heater to operate until the overtemp has been manually reset and the oil temperature is below the programmed setpoint.

This small, versatile quench tank is available in various sizes, and can be equipped with quench coolers, baskets and production elevators for pneumatic quenching as required. The quench tank can also be put on casters for portability.

All L&L furnaces can be configured with various options and be specifically tailored to meet your thermal needs. We also offer furnaces equipped with pyrometry packages to meet ASM2750 and soon-to-be-certified MedAccred guidelines.

Options include a variety of control and recorder configurations. A three-day, all-inclusive startup service is included with each system within the continental U.S. and Canada. International startup and training service is available by factory quote.

If precise temperature control and uniformity is key to your process, then L&L’s QT series is a great choice.

Advances in AC technology pave the way for a safer, more efficient, and productive work environment as Electro Kinetic Technologies unveils their newest high capacity electric tugger. The AC Tugger 25K+ boasts an impressive 25,000 lb. payload capacity on casters and up to 100,000 lbs. on rails, making it the manufacturer’s most highly versatile material handling solution available, even for the heaviest of loads.

This new addition to Electro Kinetic Technologies’ AC Vector Power© family of tuggers not only brings heavy duty pulling and pushing power, but it puts operator safety at the forefront. The solid-state sensor prevents tugger operation when its mast is in the vertical position, and other built-in sensors allow the control to throttle back the tugger’s motor, protecting from thermal overload. This tugger also completely stops when the controls are released, and automatically brakes to prevent rolling backward if the operator is on an incline.

Safety is built into the machine itself, but is also present in the battery pack. The AC Tugger 25K+ is available with options for either an AGM or lithium battery package, and lithium batteries come with even more incentives. Electro Kinetic Technologies’ lithium batteries are UN38.3 certified, so they can be safely transported globally without any special packaging. They are also extremely long-lasting, enduring up to 14 times the life of standard AGM and GEL battery packs.

As with its counterparts in the AC Vector Power© family, another key feature of the AC Tugger 25K+ is its Bluetooth® compatibility and smart phone monitoring app. Not only will the battery pack itself tell you when its charge is getting low, but you can monitor the status right from your smart phone. Operators using this technology will save time and energy from not needing to haul a dead battery all the way back to the charging station, and money savings are a given with battery life being extended 2-3 times.

Hamilton Caster & Mfg. Co. announced that it has named Mark Lippert as its new President. Hamilton Caster, a 116-year-old manufacturer of heavy-duty industrial casters, wheels, carts, and in-plant trailers, is in its fourth generation of family leadership. Mark succeeds his cousin, David R. Lippert, who retired in December.
“As we look to the future, we are confident that Mark possesses the qualifications and expertise to continue to grow our family business,” stated Board Member, Ted Lippert. “Under his leadership, Hamilton Caster will continue to make a significant impact on the industrial market and our community.”
Mark is an energetic and highly effective business leader with a strong technology background, specializing in brand and product positioning, business development, strategic planning, and process improvement strategies.
“I am honored and humbled to step into this role and build upon my family’s legacy as just the 6th president in our history,” said Mark. “I’m excited to leverage our core values of integrity, continuous improvement, accountability, respect, and empowerment as the foundation for strengthening our customer relationships, investing in new technologies, and supporting employee development.”
Mark joined Hamilton Caster in 1995 to lead marketing efforts that have resulted in a brand that has been ranked #1 in brand perception studies for the industrial manufacturing market. He also helped manage the business with three other family members (all cousins), Dave, Steve, and Jim Lippert. Together, they led with a vision to be the manufacturer of choice for heavy-duty and custom-engineered mobility systems.
“As the company implemented its business succession plan, we knew that there would be two key positions on our leadership team to fill,” said Mark. “It was important for us to find the right individuals to complement an already accomplished and experienced leadership team.”
As a result of this search, Kellie Krieger joined Hamilton in October as Director of Human Resources and Administration, replacing long-time Executive Vice President, Steven J. Lippert, who also retired in December. Kellie brings over 20 years of human resources experience to Hamilton, most recently as Human Resources Manager at Hamilton Township.
Jodi Fritsch also came aboard, in November, as Director of Marketing, a position that Mark held for over 28 years before his promotion to President. Jodi brings nearly 20 years of marketing experience to Hamilton, most recently serving as Vice President of Marketing at HORAN.
Kellie and Jodi join Hamilton’s leadership team that includes: Jim Lippert, VP of Sales; Lester Jones, Operations Manager; Lee Burroughs, Lean Manager; Mark Lohmann, Chief Financial Officer; Thomas Raley, Director of IT; Patrick Lippert, Supply Chain Manager; and John Yater, Cart & Trailer Value Stream Manager.
“Hamilton’s success over the past several years has been possible because of the vision of our leadership team along with the collaboration and diligent performance of all of our employees in terms of engineering, sales, customer service, production, and product development,” said Mark. “We expect to see continued growth because we continuously strive to be the best-in-class in everything we do.”
